What to See & Do

No question about it, if WE weren't here, you might not be, either. This is the home of Thomas Jefferson, whose dedication to the notion of a free, democratic society had everything to do with the culture and freedom we enjoy today. His home at Monticello has been faithfully restored and is open to the general public. Skilled docents walk you through the home, the surrounding grounds and indeed, through history.

Jefferson's home is fully restored.

But there is more -much more. On this page we'll give you links to some of the venues and activities which we believe will give first-time visitors a solid appreciation of our people, culture, history, geography and more. But don't stop there; we'll also link you to sources of more information which you may view and use to create a memorable and satisfying experience -and, very possibly- plans to return.

Our guide to the area is always a work in progress which you may consult at any time. If you find an area feature or location you believe we should include, please let us know so we may include it here for others to enjoy as well.

Please note that all links in this section will open in a new window which you may simply close to return here.

Broad Overview:

Pursue Charlottesville.com publishes an informative and colorful guidebook to many attractions and features of the area. On the web site you will see a calendar of events and you may also view (and download if you like) an electronic informational brochure. A good way to see the big picture. Click here for Charlottesville.com.

Virginia.org Everything about the Old Dominion -what to see, where to stay, what to do. It's all here. The history, the culture, the people, the excitement. For the broad view that you can focus to regional or local interest, click the link or the "Virginia is for Lovers" logo and enjoy!

Locally:

We're working on building our own list of nearby sites to see and activities which we think you'll like especially enjoy. This a work in progress, so please check back often!

With the help of our daughter Anja, we found this wonderful place in a nice countryside.
We enjoyed our stay in a lovely room and with great breakfasts, we will never forget. Thanks for your nice hospitality!
